Acorn Product Development, Inc. in Milpitas, California, seeks a Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager who blends hands-on design with strong project management to lead internal Acorn and external partner teams.

You will mentor engineers, develop project plans, and work with clients to identify requirements and deliver robust solutions from concept to production. The role involves cross-disciplinary collaboration and a strong client-facing focus.

Qualifications

• BSME degree required; MSME preferred.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in engineering design and development.
• Proven track record in robotics, life sciences, consumer, networking or automated hardware systems.
• Hands-on experience designing injection molded, sheet metal and machined components.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (Creo a plus) and preparing production documentation.
• On-the-job analysis in tolerance analysis, FEA/CFD, fluidics, heat transfer or shock & vibration.

Responsibilities

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple projects.
• Support development and maintenance of accurate project plans and proposals.
• Collaborate with clients to identify requirements and develop solutions.
• Work with ID/UX/UI and EE teams to produce refined product designs.
• Perform mechanical engineering analyses as needed to meet project objectives.
• Create detailed designs and documentation for production release.
• Interface with vendors for prototyping, tooling and production.
• Test and evaluate prototypes and first articles.
• Create project and technical reports as required.
