Job summary

Atomic Machines is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to invent and build precision machinery for the Matter Compiler™ platform. You will turn demanding process requirements into automated machines for laser micromachining, deposition, fluid handling, and bonding.

You’ll own designs from concept through qualification and deployment, working with experienced engineers in our in-house labs and Hybrid Fab to test and refine ideas quickly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing and building complex mechanical or mechatronic systems.
• Proficiency in CAD, mechanical drawings, and tolerancing.
• Hands-on experience fabricating, assembling, testing, and debugging hardware.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, build, and qualify precision mechanisms, robotic axes, end effectors, and process hardware.
• Solve coupled problems in mechanics, thermal behavior, and process physics with balance of precision and throughput.
• Build and instrument prototypes, test predictions, and iterate designs through deployment.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and process engineers to integrate motion, sensing, controls, and mechanical hardware into complete machines.
• Produce CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for build and maintenance.
