BOAB Ventures is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and qualify precision mechanisms for mission systems in high consequence environments. This onsite role in Carlsbad, CA requires ownership from concept through integration and test.

You will build 3D models and drawings, evaluate materials, run tests, and present results at peer reviews and customer reviews. A TS/SCI clearance (recent within 2 years) is required with favorable polygraph preferred.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or higher with 4+ years of relevant experience; or Master's with 2+ years.
• Active TS/SCI clearance (clearances active within the last two years will be considered).
• Ability to work onsite in a mix of office and laboratory settings.

• Build 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate material selections and design trades, and improve designs for performance, SWaP, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Plan and run component and system level tests, analyze results, and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and results at peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and customer reviews.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, configuration management, suppliers, technicians, and the program test team to move designs into production.
• Support field test and demonstration activities as needed.

Location: Onsite at one of three client sites: Chantilly, VA; Palm Bay, FL; or Carlsbad, CA

Clearance: Active Top Secret or TS/SCI required (clearances active within the last two years will be considered). Favorable polygraph preferred.

About the Role

BOAB Ventures is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to design and qualify the precision mechanisms inside mission systems that operate in high consequence environments. Our client is a major defense prime supporting customers with some of the most demanding missions in national security. You will own major components and subsystems from early concept through integration and test. This is an onsite role because the work is hands on: lab work, prototypes, integration, and hardware test.

What You Will Do

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro mechanical hardware.
• Build 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; Master's with 2+ years; or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance (active within the last two years will be considered).
• Ability to work onsite in a mix of office and laboratory settings.

Desired Skills

• Hands on experience designing, building, integrating, and testing complex mechanical hardware.
• Design of precision mechanisms, mechatronic systems, or electronics packaging with attention to thermal and structural loads and SWaP optimization.
• Proficiency in Creo or a comparable 3D CAD tool, with strong drawing practice, tolerance analysis, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, electro optical systems, materials testing, or manufacturing processes.
• Additive manufacturing, part optimization, and DFMA experience.
• Favorable polygraph.
