Job summary

RIM Recruitment Professionals is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary design team in Lexington, KY. You will collaborate with architectural, electrical, and structural groups to design mechanical building systems for diverse projects, from small facilities to large campuses.

The right candidate will have 5–10+ years in consulting mechanical design, with a PE track and the ability to obtain Kentucky registration within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification, or on track to receive it with ability to register in Kentucky within 6 months.
• 5 to 10+ years of experience designing mechanical building systems in a consulting environment.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical system design including plumbing, fire protection, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and temperature controls.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Revit.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills with cross-disciplinary collaboration ability.
• High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Marketing, sales, and business development experience.
• Client and project management experience.
• Ability to plan resources, maintain schedules, and stay within budget.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of life cycle costing, computer HVAC modeling, and simulation programs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architectural, electrical, and structural teams on a variety of projects.
• Design mechanical building systems for both new and retrofit projects.
• Deliver mechanically sound, complete designs from HVAC to plumbing and fire protection.
• Support water resources engineers with code-specific mechanical, electrical, and structural systems design.
• Plan resources, manage schedules, and help keep projects within budget.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues in our architectural, electrical, and structural departments on a variety of projects. Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification, or on track to receive it as soon as eligible, in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to become registered in Kentucky within 6 months and in other states by comity — OR the ability to attain PE certification within a reasonable timeframe
• 5 to 10+ years of experience designing mechanical building systems in a consulting environment
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical system design, including plumbing, fire protection, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and temperature controls
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Revit
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across disciplines
• High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
