Job summary

Emerson in Mansfield, MA is seeking an Engineering Professional to join a team producing pressure relief valves for nuclear power plants and Navy submarines. You will work on design changes, product enhancements, sizing, selection, and support across departments, ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering and real-world manufacturing experience. Familiarity with CAD, PDM software, BOM development, and ASME codes is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Provide technical support to internal departments such as quality, manufacturing, sales, and purchasing.
  • Troubleshoot and support shop‑floor activities, including material defects, valve assembly, and testing.
  • Prepare procedures (assembly, testing, qualification, etc.) and perform stress analysis for products and materials.

Job Description

Engineering Professional looking for an opportunity to gain experience, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Mansfield, MA location, you will be part of the team that produces pressure relief valves for nuclear power plants as well as valves for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. Safety and quality are paramount; as the mechanical engineer you will work on a variety of tasks from design and drawing changes to product enhancements, sizing, selection, and support.

Responsibilities
  • Review customer specifications and develop comprehensive design proposals for a variety of valve applications.
  • Create detailed models and manufacturing drawings using CAD, from concept sketches and legacy drawings.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments such as quality, manufacturing, sales, and purchasing.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience as a mechanical or product engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably with an engineered‑to‑order product.
  • Familiarity with product data management software and bill of materials development.
  • Technical knowledge of valves and valve products.
  • Familiarity with ASME Codes and Standards.
Location

Mansfield, Massachusetts – a suburban community convenient to Boston and Providence, with access to major highways, a commuter rail station, and local parks and recreation.

Compensation

The total target compensation range for this position is $90,000 – $115,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
