Job Summary

As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients’ goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch.

This position could sit out of the following locations:

• Overland Park, KS
• Cary, NC

Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer within our Piping sub-discipline, where you'll support projects within our LNG or APG solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings
• Responsible for pressure boundary design and structural analysis of piping systems.
• Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
• Prepare basic calculations
• Assist in basic equipment selection
• Coordinate with other disciplines
• Collect, organize, and evaluate data

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Skills:

• Mechanics of Materials (fatigue, creep, fracture mechanics), Statics, and Machine Design courses preferred.
• Communications skills, both written and oral
• Mathematical skills

Minimum Qualifications

No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

This intern position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
