Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for the Electrical Products division to drive new product development and lifecycle support. You will interface with project management, product managers, and operations on engineering changes, compliance, and prototyping across the product lifecycle.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 2–4 years of design experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks with CAD/FEA simulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of mechanical and/or machinery design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and simulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Office, Project, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical designs for tools, equipment, and material handling solutions.
• Create drawings, models, and 3D printed models for assigned products.
• Create BOMs and Costed BOMs for designs.
• Lead engineering ownership to meet industry codes and standards.
• Ensure engineering processes (FEA, DVP&R, DFMEA, design reviews, FAIRs, ECR, QCPs, PRAPs) are followed.
• Develop design specifications per PM/PM requests.
• Collaborate with PM to advance projects through stage gate approvals.
• Create prototypes for testing and evaluation.
• Coordinate PRAP builds with operations engineering/managers.
• Develop certification plans and coordinate third-party tests.
• Ensure manufacturability with operations.
• Lead design validation testing for projects.
