We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer II – IV in our San Francisco, CA or Sacramento, CA offices.

Job Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer II – IV you will create basic designs under the direction of senior engineers and/or senior designers, perform equipment selections, and perform load/energy and pressure drop calculations for a variety of projects and project sizes. You will progress from basic design work assignments to more complex projects working with a technical team.

  • Conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions; assist Senior Engineer in due diligence, feasibility, gap analysis, and other technical reports and drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and work in close contact with the entire design team.
  • Create basic designs under the direction of senior engineers and/or senior designers; perform equipment selections and load/energy and pressure drop calculations.
  • Represent Syska Hennessy Group and work closely with internal design team as well as external clients and consultants (owners, builders, developers, program managers, architects, vendors, etc.).
  • Maintain master drawing organization format and company standards.
  • Assist senior engineer and/or senior designer in determining project scheduling, manpower, and budget requirements.
  • Process RFIs, change orders, bulletins, and addenda.
  • Establish system application, design, and operational parameters/sequences under the direction of senior engineer and/or senior designer.
  • Develop specifications, system narratives and layouts for a variety of projects.
  • Participate in, ensure, and oversee QA/QC process for your work and the work of others.
  • Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks, including detailed inspection reports.
Job Requirements

Successful candidates should demonstrate strong REVIT and MEP skills from mark‑ups through production of detailed drawings; basic knowledge of construction documentation and design phase requirements. Knowledge of trade‑specific design and calculation software, including energy analysis software (CFD or Trane), is a good fit.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 18 months to 7+ years of relevant experience in the MEP field with projects such as aviation, healthcare, commercial, and mission‑critical.
  • Latest versions of AutoCAD MEP and REVIT required.
  • Basic understanding of proper system selection.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable codes.
  • FE certification required.
  • Experience in mission‑critical, science + technology, healthcare, and interest in project management greatly preferred.
