Job summary

Verustruct seeks a Mechanical Engineer, Level II, to help design, build, and test robotic construction machines from wall formwork to material handling. You’ll own subassemblies, perform CAD work, analysis, testing, and iterative design within a fast-paced startup environment.

You will collaborate with mechanical, robotics, materials, structural, and controls teams and contribute through the full hardware development cycle, from concept to field deployment, at our Torrance, California

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering, or closely related field.
  • Experience in mechanical design in professional, academic, internship, or project settings.
  • CAD proficiency with a major platform (Siemens NX preferred; or similar such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor).
  • Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, or improving mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop components and mechanical subsystems for robotic construction equipment and related tooling.
  • Create detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and manufacturing docs.
  • Perform mechanical calculations and structural analysis to validate performance.
  • Select motors, actuators, bearings, fasteners, sensors, and structural members.
  • Collaborate with fabrication resources and vendors for machined, welded, sheet-metal, 3D-printed builds.
  • Assemble, commission, and test prototype hardware at subsystem and system levels.
  • Develop test fixtures, procedures, collect data, and investigate failures for design iteration.
  • Coordinate with controls, electrical, materials, and other teams to integrate hardware.
  • Maintain engineering docs, participate in design reviews, and contribute to workflows.
  • Take increasing ownership of subsystems as experience grows.
