Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced mechanical/aerospace engineer to support NASA''s Artemis program at Kennedy Space Center. You will develop plans, lead teams, and execute tests on ground and flight systems, while ensuring compliance with contract documents and safety standards.

You will prepare system documentation, manage costs and schedules, and interface with customers to deliver on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
  • Strong mechanical and aerospace background is highly desirable due to flight hardware, flight support equipment, and GSE.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver''s license.
  • Excellent customer interface skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
  • Capable of reading and understanding technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if necessary.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical and aerospace engineering tasks in support of NASA's Artemis program. Responsible for developing plans, writing work authorization documents, leading Task Teams and executing hazardous and nonhazardous tests on ground and flight systems.

Provide technical engineering direction for the Mechanical Engineering Department, including technical procedure development and operational support. Work may vary from participating in conceptual design ideas to revising existing designs and modifying structures or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Prepare all essential system engineering documentation components required for a complete and viable system.

Plan, develop cost, manage, and schedule assigned projects.

Interface with client representatives and manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to satisfy the customer.

Oversee systems activations to validate compliance with contract documents.

Maintain strong organization, flexibility, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Ensure that systems operate safely and comply with all federal, state and local codes and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or a technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
  • Strong mechanical and aerospace background is highly desirable due to the mechanical aspects of flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment with clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Excellent customer interface skills required.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills are a must.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
  • Capable of reading and understanding technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if necessary.
Physical Requirements

May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting. Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Requires ability to access remote structures and climbs ladders and platforms as necessary.

Work Environment

May be required to work inside and outside the test complex. Position may require daily travel to different areas on site, walking on uneven terrain, and climbing ladders or platforms. All work must be completed safely in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Attendance and Hours

Full‑time work hours. May require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on tasks. Dependable and punctual. Shift work may be required.

Essential Functions

Accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbally. Travel to support position requirements, including travel to and from customer locations via airline travel as necessary.
