Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design antennas, RF sensors, and supporting electronics and subsystems for defense programs.

You will support production, engage with suppliers, follow procedures, develop technical solutions, and supervise mechanical drawings and layout. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with design and manufacturing of electronics packaging and/or test equipment for military and aerospace applications.
  • Experience with GD&T and ANSI drawing standards and first order analysis techniques.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design and documentation of antennas, RF sensors, and supporting electronics and sub-systems.
  • Support existing production programs in maintaining high quality and on-time delivery; interact with suppliers for quality issues and obsolescence, test equipment development, root cause investigation, etc.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions while working with program and functional leadership to meet design objectives.
  • Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
  • Supervise definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection, mechanical drawings, and oversee electrical layout and data packages.
  • Work with minimal direction, exercising latitude in determining technical objectives.
  • Interact frequently with IPTL, PM, and a multi-functional team.
  • Travel periodically to suppliers and other sites to support programs.

What You Will Do
  • Perform mechanical design and documentation of antennas, RF Sensors, and supporting Electronics and Sub-systems.

  • Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that overall design objectives are met.
  • Responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
  • Responsible for supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, and overseeing electrical layout and the technical data package.
  • Work with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of assignments
  • Frequent interaction with the IPTL, PM, and a multi-functional team.
  • Travel periodic to suppliers and other sites to support programs
Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree or a minimum of 2 years’ prior relevant experience, to include any combination of the following:

  • Experience with the design and manufacturing of electronics packaging and/or test equipment for military and aerospace applications
  • Experience with GD&T, ANSI drawing standards and first order analysis techniques
  • Experience with PTC Creo MCAD software and drawing standards
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • An existing Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • 3+ years of industry experience in the design and test of electronics packaging for military and aerospace applications
  • Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and layout collaboration experience

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
