Job summary

Raytheon seeks a Mechanical Engineer I in Marlborough, MA, to join the MA&T department. You will contribute across product lifecycles from design studies to production support, learning from a team of 200+ engineers and handling diverse structural analyses and test activities.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, experience with major analysis tools, CREO, and MATLAB, with strong communication skills and willingness to travel for program activities. Relocation is considered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent software.
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD like CREO or equivalent.
  • Matlab experience.
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Structural test and instrumentation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis.
  • Perform detailed structural analyses to solve various program structural design challenges.
  • Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to requirements.
  • Analyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environments.
  • Work with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints.
  • Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product.
  • Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Generate detailed, archival technical reports.

The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

Mechanical Engineer I

Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the MA&T Department. In this role you will get the opportunity to work on products throughout their lifecycle from initial design trade studies and proposals through qualification testing to enduring production support. Entry level engineers will join and learn from a team of 200+ engineers working in all areas of structural engineering, and can expect a wide variety of assignments, from classical stress analyses to cutting edge computer aided analysis methodologies and field test support at locations around the world. This posting is for an onsite position in Marlborough, MA.

What You Will Do

  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Structural test and instrumentation experience
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
  • Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Relocation Eligible

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
