QinetiQ US, Ft. Belvoir, VA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and demonstrate prototype EO/IR sensors, weapon systems and soldier equipment. You will work across mechanical, electrical, and materials disciplines, using SolidWorks for 3D CAD and performing analyses to validate designs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, strong problem-solving, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. On-site at Fort Belvoir.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or similar.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and analysis (structural, thermal, or vibration).
  • Experience with mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Catia, and Autodesk.
  • Ability to work across mechanical, aeronautical, astronautical, electrical, and materials engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies for Ground Combat Platforms and EOIR sensor systems.
  • Select materials and hardware suitable for the system.
  • Develop and conduct testing to validate engineering analysis models.
  • Translate customer requirements into payload and component specifications.
  • 3D CAD design and drafting of mechanical/electrical components in SolidWorks.
  • Perform vendor research, selection, and interface.
