Create prototypes and evaluate design to ensureconformance with engineering specifications. Conduct feasibilityassessments and perform failure analysis studies to ensure designperforms as expected. Evaluate cost and maintenance requirements ofdesign. Work with fabrication and manufacturing departments toensure final design is properly executed in the creation ofmechanical products. Create and interpret blueprints, technicaldrawings, and schematics. Model and design work using draftingtools or computer-aided (CAD)/drafting equipment and software todesign work. May manage project schedules and budgets. May berequired to approve designs that can impact the health, safety, andwelfare of the general public, as required by law. Requires a degree in mechanical engineering or international equivalent.Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignmentsas directed. Closely supervised with little latitude forindependent judgment.
