Job summary

Culligan Water seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to create and revise drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, develop submittals and technical packages, collect test data, and support customer projects from concept through startup.

The role is based in the office five days per week with up to 50% travel to customer sites, working under licensed PEs to gain qualifying experience toward PE licensure and EIT certification through the FE exam.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years of engineering, internship, co-op, laboratory, manufacturing, field service, or project experience.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, mechanical drawings, fluid systems, pumps, valves, piping, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; able to work under supervision of a PE, obtain EIT certification through FE exam, and pursue PE licensure.
  • S. citizenship required; available on-site four days per week and travel up to 50%.

  • Update P&IDs, General Arrangement drawings, piping layouts, and fabrication details with revision control.

  • Support Global Accounts sales efforts with equipment selection, proposals, and technical responses.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist with installation verification, startup, commissioning, and training.

Description

Responsibilities include creating and revising drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, developing submittals and technical packages, collecting and analyzing test data, troubleshooting pilot equipment, and supporting customer projects from concept through startup. This position is based in the office five days per week with occasional travel to customer sites for testing, installation, startup, and commissioning activities. The role works directly under licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) to gain qualifying engineering experience toward PE licensure and is expected to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Global Accounts sales efforts by assisting with equipment selection, proposal development, technical responses, and budgetary estimates.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and site information to identify technical questions, missing information, and project risks.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including submittals, BOMs, equipment lists, manuals, startup packages, and closeout documents.
  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Update P&IDs, General Arrangement drawings, piping layouts, and fabrication details while maintaining revision control.
  • Support laboratory and pilot testing activities including equipment setup, data collection, test execution, and results documentation.
  • Assemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain pilot units and test skids in accordance with engineering drawings and safety requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist with equipment installation verification, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operator training.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, service, and sales teams to deliver accurate documentation, resolve technical issues, and support successful project execution.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support business needs and customers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0-2 years of engineering, internship, co-op, laboratory, manufacturing, field service, or project experience.

Target Salary Range: $60,000 - 70,000 per year, paid hourly. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including: paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
