Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Automotive & Manufacturing Facilities Group in Nashville. You will develop innovative projects and collaborate with clients, engineering teams, and professionals to ensure quality, compliance, and innovation in designs.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
  • Three or more years of related practical experience.
  • Experience sizing HVAC and piping systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT; MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience in Automotive/Manufacturing projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods and techniques on work of small projects or on portions of larger projects including HVAC and piping.
  • Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and assistance in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Exercises limited judgment in making adaptations or modifications to design concepts.
  • Reviews work with supervisor to ensure the application of sound engineering practices and professional judgment.
  • May supervise, coordinate, and direct the work effort of designers on the same project with some responsibility for checking his/her portion of the completed drawings.
  • May write portions of specifications and assist in preparing cost estimates.
  • Performs design work in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Job may require use of AI or similar digital technology to perform the job function.

Qualifications
What You’ll Need on Day One:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college program.
  • Three or more years of related practical experience is required.
  • Experience with, and the ability to size HVAC equipment, duct and ancillary equipment, hydronic and utility piping systems.
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD, REVIT preferred, as well as Microsoft Software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience working on Automotive, Manufacturing, and Commercial projects is a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
