Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Downers Grove is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to support healthcare projects. The role involves designing and implementing HVAC systems, conducting site visits, and ensuring compliance with mechanical codes. Candidates should have over 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the healthcare sector. A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering is required, along with proficiency in Revit and knowledge of commercial building standards. Base pay range

$90,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

RWE Design Build is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to support our growing portfolio of projects in the veterinary, dental, and medical sectors. This role focuses primarily on HVAC system design within an integrated design-build environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design and engineer full HVAC systems for healthcare facilities
• Perform site visits to assess existing MEP/HVAC systems
• Develop HVAC layouts, zoning diagrams, and system plans
• Conduct mechanical code research and ensure compliance
• Produce 3D HVAC and piping models in Revit

Requirements

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience (HVAC-focused)
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
• Experience with commercial buildings (healthcare preferred)
• PE is preferred, but not required
• Plumbing experience a plus, but not required

Basic knowledge of the following areas

• NFPA standards
• Computer generated HVAC Heatloads, energy modeling and HVAC equipment sizing
• Technical Submittal reviewing process Bid reviewing process
• Microsoft Office Suite
• LEED AP certified professional experienced in obtaining LEED’s certification for industrial buildings.
• Extensive experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers is preferred.
• International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes
• ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards
