Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in Kent, WA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Deployable Radiators to own the structural design of large deployable radiator panels and their integration with the spacecraft's liquid cooling loop.

This hands-on role requires strong mechanisms design, CAD, and FEA skills, collaboration with thermal and software teams, and execution of ground tests through flight qualification to ensure reliable deployment in orbit.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years designing and analyzing lightweight structures and hardware in aerospace or high-performance environments.
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA for static, modal, and dynamic analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own the structural design of the deployable radiator panels from concept through flight and deployment.
• Perform structural analysis across mission profile including vibration and deployed-state dynamics.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing of panels and assemblies, and work with suppliers for scalable production.
• Design deployment mechanisms (hinges, latches, release devices) and interfaces carrying loads.
• Integrate radiator panels with the liquid cooling loop and perform thermal design with the thermal team.
• Develop and execute ground tests, deployment tests, and qualification programs to verify flight-worthiness.
• Author and maintain drawings, interface control documents, analysis reports, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with thermal, structures, propulsion, power, avionics, and software teams for seamless integration.
