Job summary

Xometry is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to analyze CAD models and drawings, assess manufacturability, and drive accurate, timely quotes for our customers. You will leverage deep knowledge of machining and fabrication processes to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.

Candidate should have 6+ years in metalworking or mechanical engineering, strong communication skills, and proficiency with CAD/CAM tools. Remote work with eventual hybrid schedule, and US time-zone alignment.

Qualifications

• Higher technical education in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
• 6+ years experience in metalworking/mechanical engineering.
• Expert knowledge of turning, milling, CNC, EDM, laser/waterjet, sheet metal, welding.
• Understanding of post-processing methods – polishing, heat treatment, coatings.
• Knowledge of materials and their processing properties.
• English level B2+.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and CAD models to assess manufacturability and costs.
• Calculate manufacturing costs (materials, machining hours, post-processing).
• Provide recommendations on manufacturing processes.
• Document and transfer calculations to Sales/Commercial team.
• Review 3D models and 2D drawings for quoting and manufacturability feedback.
• Organize RFQs and clarify details with Sales and Engineering teams.
• Maintain quote databases and ensure timely updates.
• Deliver high-quality and accurate quotes within 1–2 working hours.
• Support process automation initiatives and workflow optimization.

How You’ll Contribute:

What You’ll Bring to Xometry:

• Education: Higher technical education (Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar)
• Experience: 6+ years of experience in metalworking / mechanical engineering
• Technical Expertise: Expert knowledge of machining and fabrication processes – turning, milling, CNC machining, EDM, laser/waterjet/plasma cutting, sheet metal processing, and welding
• Post-Processing Knowledge: Understanding of post-processing methods – polishing, hardening, heat treatment, anodizing, sand/shot blasting, coatings, and painting
• Materials Knowledge: Knowledge of different materials (metals, plastics, composites) and their processing properties
• Language: English level B2+
• Customer Focus: Customer-oriented mindset and ability to clearly explain technical details
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure
• Technical Fluency: IT-enthusiast, ready to adopt modern tools and software (CAD/CAM, CRM, cloud systems)

• Technical drawing interpretation – proficiency 5/5
• Tooling & fixture design for machining, assembly, and welding – proficiency 3/5
• Manufacturing processes expertise (laser/waterjet cutting, turning, milling, grinding, EDM, sheet metal fabrication) – proficiency 5/5

Work Conditions:

• Full-time remote work (home office), later hybrid (3 days from office) once the office is opened
