Job summary

Universal Industries in Cedar Falls, IA, is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer with a BA in Mechanical Engineering to design tube conveyors, bucket elevators and related equipment. You will analyze specifications, provide technical information on materials and processes, coordinate prototype builds, and support production improvements for quality and cost reduction.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills are expected.
Experience with AutoCAD and 3-D modeling (SolidWorks) is required.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail; sheet metal fabrication is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design tube conveyors, bucket elevators and conveyors.
Analyze specifications to determine feasible designs for existing facilities.
Provide technical information on manufacturing techniques, materials, properties and process trade-offs.
Direct prototype development and testing of products or systems.
Plan and develop experimental test programs and analyze results.
Coordinate with planning/design staff to optimize production methods.
Recommend equipment upgrades and ROI considerations to management.
Train other departments and customers on design, operation, safety and maintenance.
