Job summary

Brunswick Navico Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern/Co-op in the United States. You will design, validate, and optimize systems, manage projects from inception to completion, and collaborate with engineering professionals in a hybrid workplace.

Responsibilities include supporting mechanical design, validation testing, time studies, and continuous improvement initiatives using CAD/SolidWorks. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with hourly pay between $18 and $27.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Engineering.
  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) through January to August 2027 or June to December 2027.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Creative ability with strong mechanical aptitude (preferred).
  • Basic office skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (preferred).
  • The ability to enroll in a formalized co‑op Program through your university (preferred).
  • Dependable, self-motivated and engaged learner (preferred).
  • Boating, fishing and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required (preferred).
  • Good interpersonal skills (preferred).

  • Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern/Co‑op you will work collaboratively and independently with highly qualified engineering professionals who are responsible for the design, production and manufacturing of items in the recreational boating industry. You will be an integral member of an engineering team committed to delivering superior results. You'll learn how to work with a team as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion. At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Essential Functions:
  • Support the mechanical design of various systems and components
  • Assist with validation test plans and testing
  • Complete time studies and assist with process improvements as well as labor balancing activities
  • Utilize CAD software/ SolidwWorks
  • Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems
Skills and Experience Gained:
  • Select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, criteria, and judgment in a real‑world, hands‑on, cross‑functional environment
  • Become experienced in design, failure analysis, data reduction/analysis, documenting and authenticating testing results, and technical report writing
Co‑op Dates:

January 2027 - August 2027 & May 2027 - December 2027 or January - April / August - December 2027

Internship Projects to Include:
  • Assist in implementation of visual work instruction platform
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Engineering

Working Conditions:

You will work alongside experienced professionals and get a chance to apply your academic knowledge to real‑world tasks. Project Work: The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Student co‑ops or interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization’s goals. This may range from supporting larger projects to handling smaller, individual assignments.

Hours:

Co‑ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40‑hour work week.

Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co‑op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
