Job summary

Monarch Quantum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to help build foundational systems in a fast-paced startup setting. You will work on cutting-edge technologies, collaborate closely with leadership, and implement engineering practices aligned with our mission and growth.

The role emphasizes independent and team work, mentorship of junior engineers, rigorous planning and documentation, and a culture of curiosity and initiative to drive excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks) and analytical tools.
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods (CNC, laser, waterjet, 3D printing).
• Understanding of structural dynamics and heat transfer theories.
• Ability to document results and communicate ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and in a team while over communicating with the manager and teammates. May mentor junior engineers.
• Execute complex engineering tasks involving planning, data collection/analysis and decision-making with peer reviews and documentation.
• Ensure accuracy of execution schedules, data quality, conformance to best practices, and clear communication.
• Grow competency through mentorship, curiosity, communication, exposure and initiative.

Requirements

• This position requires access to export‑controlled information. Employment is contingent upon the applicant being a U.S. person as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)

Experience

• A bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering, Physics, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally within a startup or technology company.

Skills

• Working knowledge of at least one ME topic and basic understanding of standard mechanical engineering degree curriculum.
• Solid understanding of material properties, mechanisms, fabrication methods: CNC milling, CNC turning, sheet metal, injection molding, laser cutting, water jet cutting, and 3D printing (metal and plastic).
• Solid understanding of structural theory: static, modal, random vibration, shock, etc.
• Solid understanding of fluids and heat transfer theory: conduction, convection and radiation.
• Demonstrated successful execution of engineering tasks including use of mechanical CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and quantitative analysis/programming tools, instrumentation and measurement, part fabrication or procurement, integration and test, data collection, analysis (ANSYS Workbench) and documentation.

Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this position is $85,000-$125,000.
