Job summary

Smart Managed Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a prestigious contract at White City. This Monday–Friday role runs 07:00–16:00 or 10:00–19:00, delivering reliable M&E maintenance across the site.

You will carry out PPM, reactive and breakdown tasks on HVAC, hot and cold-water systems and generators, with basic electrical knowledge desirable. Formal City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2 in mechanical engineering is expected, plus clear progression and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Formally trained in a mechanical engineering discipline (HVAC, Plumbing) to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2.
• Experience carrying out PPM tasks and reactive/breakdown works on mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC, hot/cold-water systems and generators; basic electrical knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure routine PPM is carried out on all mechanical plant.
• Complete reactive tasks and be proactive in identifying improvements.
• Repair plant faults to keep systems in serviceable order at all times.
• Provide spares lists and estimate timescales for remedial works.
• Ensure accurate paperwork for reactive/breakdown tasks is passed to the contract administrator.

Purpose

As a Mechanical Engineer at Smart Managed Solutions, you will be responsible for ensuring all environmental conditions and critical building systems are maintained to the highest standard throughout.

To carry out PPM tasks and reactive and breakdown works to all Mechanical systems within the site. Engineers must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of HVAC, Hot & Cold-Water Systems & Generators which will include the ability to fault find using the production of graphical information and the utilisation of current alarm data. Basic electrical knowledge would be desirable.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine PPM is carried out to all mechanical plant in accordance with Site task schedules and asset lists.
• Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the building are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. These reactive calls to also include concessionary stores and fabric related items.
• Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
• Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding reactive, and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
• Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices always.
• To develop a good working relationship with all members of Smart managed solutions staff, subcontractors, and the client representatives.
• Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
• Ensure the professional image of Smart Managed Solutions is always presented to clients
• Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of Smart Managed Solutions are locked at all times and are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
• Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
• To ensure tasks as directed are completed with the appropriate H&S awareness/implementation.
• Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
• Ensure Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g. Maximo, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
• To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Smart Manged Solutions Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements (or approved client system)
