Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for design leadership in power generation and heavy industrial facilities in Georgia and nearby South Carolina. You will lead detailed design activities, develop P&IDs, and oversee piping layouts, sizing, and equipment selection.

Strong knowledge of codes and hydraulic calculations is essential. Responsibilities include coordinating with plant staff, vendors, and internal design teams to ensure compliant, safe, and efficient

Qualifications

• Significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities, and ability to lead detailed design activities
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, proficiency with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience in development, preparation and checking of P&IDs
• Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps and balance-of-plant equipment; experience with hydraulic calculations
• Proficiency in Pipe-Flo (or similar software) preferred; strong working knowledge of process equipment including piping, valves (manual, control, relief), pumps, pressure vessels and heat exchangers
• Experience with relief valve and control sizing, and ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and vendors
