Position Summary

The primary responsibility is to lead or support the design of mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fire protection systems for various clients across different markets. You may need to sign and seal drawings as the Engineer of Record on some projects. You will coordinate with the design team and work with clients, project managers, and engineers to meet project objectives efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Design energy-efficient HVAC and mechanical systems according to client requirements.
  2. Sign and seal drawings as the Engineer of Record on applicable projects.
  3. Conduct load calculations and energy modeling using programs like eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and Carrier HAP.
  4. Review projects to ensure compliance with departmental standards, client requirements, and budgets. Use Revit for design, layout, and checking of drawings, ensuring technical accuracy per standards and codes.
  5. Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and interns.
  6. Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and support field construction as needed.
  7. Participate in training development with the project team.
  8. Assist in proposal development, client management, and project execution.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national code requirements.
  • Experience with load analysis and energy modeling software such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and Carrier HAP.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the USGBC LEED Rating system is a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both technical and written.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in Mechanical/HVAC design, with a focus on sustainable/green building.
  • Experience with Revit for project execution.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • PE licensure is preferred but not required; candidates should be working towards it.
