Job description

We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong foundation in aerospace systems, particularly unmanned aerial systems (UAS) or manned aircraft applications. This role supports the design, integration, and testing of sensor systems that blend mechanical, software, and networking disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, including internships, and be comfortable working in a remote, self-organizing team environment. You’ll be supporting senior engineers across multiple active programs, helping to shape cutting-edge technology used in national defense and geospatial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical design support for aerospace sensor systems and related technologies
  • Develop CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Support ground, bench, and flight testing of systems
  • Perform feasibility studies and trade-space analyses
  • Reduce and analyze test data and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with software developers and data engineers to support integrated systems
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of networked data systems (servers, cloud, and localized devices)
  • Author white papers, technical reports, and customer-facing documentation
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal development and pipeline research
  • Travel as needed to support testing, integration, or customer engagement
Required:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (including no more than 2 years of internships) in mechanical engineering roles supporting integrated systems
  • Aerospace experience with unmanned or manned aircraft systems
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and MATLAB; experience with programming (C++ or C#) a plus
Familiarity with data/network architectures and cloud-based systems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Experience working with sensor systems in aviation or geospatial environments
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices or pair programming
  • Knowledge of defense or government acquisition processes
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. security clearance (up to TS/SCI)
