We are excited to offer a Mechanical Engineer position located at the 96th Civil Engineering Group at EGLIN AFB, FL.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Proven experience in the design, construction, or maintenance of facility mechanical systems, particularly HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems. Experience on military installations is highly valued
- Strong knowledge of standard mechanical engineering practices, building codes, and UFCs
- Proficiency with CAD or Building Information Modeling software
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage construction and service contracts
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Experience with Air Force Civil Engineering processes and procedures
Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, industrial ventilation, building automation systems (BAS), process piping, and plumbing
- Develop and evaluate statements of work (SOW) for Architect-Engineer (A&E) services and construction contractors. Manage projects from concept through completion, conduct on-site inspections, and ensure all work meets technical and contractual requirements
- Provide engineering support for the operation and maintenance of base utility systems, including water, wastewater, natural gas, and POL (Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants) fuel systems
- Utilize computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create and review mechanical designs. Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure system efficiency, reliability, and code compliance
- Assist in developing and executing plans for the rapid repair and recovery of mechanical systems and base facilities following natural disasters, accidents, or other emergency scenarios
