Job description

This role is open to candidates in Santa Clara, CA; Mesa, AZ; Reno, NV; and Sterling, VA.

EdgeCore is creating a new Mechanical Engineering role to strengthen the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our rapidly growing portfolio of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure. Working at the intersection of Infrastructure Engineering and Operations, you will help resolve complex technical issues, improve incident response, support facility turnover, and develop durable solutions that protect uptime across our data center campuses.

This is an opportunity for an experienced critical-infrastructure professional to broaden their engineering impact while learning from senior engineering leaders. The successful candidate will combine sound technical judgment with practical operating experience to shorten issue-resolution cycles, strengthen equipment reliability, and help establish consistent, scalable engineering practices as EdgeCore’s operating portfolio expands.

  • Support the troubleshooting and timely resolution of mechanical infrastructure issues that could affect data center operations, uptime, availability, or reliability.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective-action development, and lessons-learned reviews to reduce recurrence risk and strengthen portfolio-wide reliability.
  • Provide engineering support for operational readiness, facility turnover, commissioning, and post-occupancy issue resolution to reduce transition risk and promote stable operations at handoff.
  • Partner with Operations, Operations Excellence, vendors, and equipment manufacturers to investigate performance concerns, resolve recurring issues, and develop durable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to reliability initiatives, engineering studies, operational standards, and continuous-improvement programs that reduce operational risk, protect uptime, and improve operating efficiency.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation, reports, engineering procedures, and operational guidance to promote consistency across the portfolio.
  • Develop expertise in data center mechanical systems, design principles, equipment lifecycle management, and engineering best practices through hands-on work and mentorship from senior engineering leaders.
  • Domestic travel up to 30% travel required
Your Experience and Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience supporting mechanical infrastructure through design, commissioning, construction, operations, maintenance, reliability engineering, or a related technical role in data centers, utilities, power generation, industrial facilities, healthcare, telecommunications, or another environment where uptime and availability are business critical.
  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience supporting critical infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical infrastructure such as chillers, fan coil walls, building management systems, pumps, piping systems, air-handling units, cooling towers, mechanical cooling equipment, or comparable mission-critical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and develop practical corrective actions.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, equipment documentation, operating procedures, and technical reports.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical findings and collaborate effectively with operations teams, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Preferred:
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience conducting root cause analyses, failure mode and effects analyses, or reliability studies.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and other applicable industry standards, as well as experience supporting commissioning, facility turnover, or operational-readiness activities.
