Job summary

Kickmaker, a high-tech product design and automation agency, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the US Mechanical Engineering team in Seattle. You will design and prototype mechanical systems for robotic actuators, joints, and assemblies, collaborating with electrical and software engineers to realize concepts from CAD to bench testing.

You will size motors, manage wiring and thermal aspects, and ensure manufacturability with GD&T while partnering with manufacturers on casting,

Qualifications

• 5 years of hands-on design and prototyping experience in robotics or similar fields.
• Experience with actuators, motion systems, and sensors.
• Knowledge of thermal and wiring constraints.
• Hands-on mindset with bench testing and iteration.
• Proficient with SolidWorks/Creo/GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for actuators, robotic joints, and assemblies.
• Perform motor sizing, wiring layout, and thermal management for compact electromechanical systems.
• Create detailed 3D and 2D designs using SolidWorks and Creo with GD&T for manufacturability.
• Participate in bench testing, validation, and iterative improvement of actuator and robot prototypes.
• Work with manufacturing partners on aluminum die casting, machining, and assembly processes.
• Integrate sensors, motors, and control electronics within mechanical designs.

We’re growing ourUS Mechanical Engineering team :

• The role involves mechanical design, prototyping, and testing of subassemblies that integrate actuators, motors, and electronics into high-performance robotic mechanisms.
• You will collaborate with electrical and software engineers to bring mechanical concepts to life ; from CAD to bench testing to working robots.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop mechanical systems for actuators, robotic joints, and assemblies.

• Support automation and system integration during robotic builds.

What you bring

• Strong background in mechanical + mechatronic design
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation…
• 5 years of hands-on design and prototyping experience in robotics or similar fields.
• Experience with actuators, motion systems, and sensors Knowledge of thermal and wiring constraints
• Hands-on mindset, you like bench testing and iteration
• Proficient with SolidWorks / Creo / GD&T

• Base Salary:$100 000 to $115 000/ year
• Experience Required:5 years in a relevant field
