Job description

About Oshkosh AeroTech, an Oshkosh company

Oshkosh AeroTech is a leading provider of aviation ground support products, gate equipment and airport services to commercial airlines, airports, air-freight carriers, ground handling and military customers. Oshkosh AeroTech offers products that make a difference in people’s lives by supporting those in our communities who do some of the toughest work. They own many of the most trusted brands in the air transportation industry, including LEKTRO®, JetAire®, JetPower®, AmpTekÔ, Jetway®, and more.

The Mechanical Engineer will support product sustaining engineering activities across the Jetway product portfolio, providing engineering support for products and technologies ranging from long-established equipment to the latest product offerings. This role will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to support product customization, maintainability and obsolescence initiatives, and the resolution of issues identified through manufacturing, testing and qualification, commissioning, and field operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who is eager to develop broad technical expertise, strengthen analytical and troubleshooting capabilities (hands-on), and gain exposure to a diverse range of products and technologies. The position works within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment that includes mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and design.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Support sustaining engineering activities across the Jetway product portfolio, including product customization, maintainability, obsolescence, commissioning, and field-related engineering needs.
  • Perform engineering analysis, calculations, design evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting to support existing products and resolve technical issues.
  • Apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics and engineering analysis, to evaluate product performance and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Utilize and continue developing proficiency with engineering analysis methods and tools, including finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), load calculations, and other applicable analytical techniques.
  • Review, revise, and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation to identify discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and support corrective actions.
  • Investigate product and system issues to determine root causes and develop appropriate engineering solutions when equipment or components do not perform or conform as intended.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, software engineering, design, manufacturing, commissioning, and other cross-functional partners to resolve technical challenges.
  • Support engineering changes and product updates associated with component obsolescence, maintainability, field performance, and evolving product requirements.
  • Assist with the evaluation, testing, and validation of engineering solutions to ensure technical requirements and product expectations are met.
  • Develop knowledge of applicable engineering standards, design practices, products, and technologies while applying established engineering principles to assigned work. Will support required updates to technical documentation, manuals and exploded views.
  • Manage assigned engineering activities to support project schedules, technical requirements, and organizational priorities.
  • Participate as an engaged member of a highly collaborative engineering team, demonstrating initiative, technical curiosity, follow-through, and a willingness to learn across multiple engineering disciplines and technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Academic, internship, project, or professional experience with engineering analysis tools or methods such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), load calculations, ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar analysis tools.
  • Coursework, project experience, or demonstrated interest in thermodynamics, thermal analysis, heat transfer, or related engineering principles.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, or other technical documentation.
  • Exposure to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, testing, or resolving mechanical or multidisciplinary technical issues.
  • Experience working on collaborative engineering projects involving multiple technical disciplines.
  • Exposure to engineering standards, design guidelines, or industry-standard engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing broad technical knowledge and working across a diverse range of products, systems, and technologies.
