Job summary

DEKA Research and Development in Manchester, NH seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to medical device development from concept through production. You will design, prototype, test, and document components and assemblies within a multidisciplinary team.

You will manage multiple sub-assemblies, apply 3D CAD modeling, analyze failure modes, and mentor less experienced engineers while collaborating with electrical, software, and design disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• 2+ years' experience with mechanical design for manufacturability in a high precision/high volume manufacturing environment (medical preferred)
• Some experience with electro-mechanical devices with embedded software preferred
• Familiarity with plastic injection molding, die casting, and metal injection molding is a plus
• Organizational and coordination skills with a detail-oriented mindset
• High energy, drive, commitment, self-initiative, and perseverance to drive projects forward to completion
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset
• Ability to communicate technically with a variety of engineering disciplines

Responsibilities

• Generate creative solutions to design problems considering risk, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, weight and cost
• Transition concepts into products using 3D CAD modeling, defining requirements, selecting materials and processes, and documenting development
• Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team including electrical, software, industrial design, and controls
• Evaluate designs through prototype testing and requirement verification
• Technical review and approval for mechanical component and assembly designs, analysis, and testing
• Mentor less experienced engineers and exemplify mechanical engineering best practices

Job description

DEKA Research and Development, housed in Manchester, NH, is looking for a mechanical design engineer to participate in the development of innovative medical devices. They will work as part of a team driving products through their lifecycle including concept generation, prototyping, component and assembly development, testing, and associated documentation. The candidate is expected to be able to manage multiple sub-assembly designs simultaneously, with a reasonable level of guidance and support. The candidate must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills and be able to learn quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

How you will make an impact as a Junior Mechanical Engineer:

• Generate creative solutions to design problems and demonstrate their viability considering factors such as risk, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, weight and cost

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:
