Design and develop plumbing systems (including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, natural gas, and specialty piping systems).
Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and layout design in accordance with local codes and standards (e.g.: IPC, ASPE, & NFPA).
Prepare construction documents (including drawings, specifications, and schedules).
Collaborate with Architects, Structural Engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project coordination.
Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to verify compliance with design intent & code requirements.
Assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and engineering studies.
Review shop drawings and submittals for adherence to design specifications.
Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients & stakeholders.
Provide mentorship to Junior Engineers and Designers.
Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
3+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with plumbing system design projects).
FE / EIT credential.
Preferred Qualifications
PE license is preferred.
Experience working with a variety of projects (preferably with commercial, institutional, and industrial projects).
Advanced proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, BIM, etc.); expertise with Autodesk Revit is strongly preferred.
Expertise with relevant codes & standards (including IPC, UPC, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 99, and ASHRAE).
Advanced knowledge of plumbing system design principles, hydraulic calculations, and piping layout best practices.
Proven ability to conduct site surveys and field inspections in an effective manner.
Experience with fire protection engineering is a plus!
Membership in relevant professional organizations (such as ASPE [American Society of Plumbing Engineers]) is a plus!
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; this person is expected to be detail-oriented!
Proven ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment (with internal & external clients) while demonstrating dependability and a positive attitude!
Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
