Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team. You will work with engineers and architects on low to mid-rise commercial projects, applying mechanical principles to design HVAC and plumbing systems and assess existing buildings for renovations.

You will use Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction documents, collaborate across disciplines, and support field work and site visits.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited University program in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrate basic investigative, analytical and research skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and design software proficiency.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, theories and practices.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for communications.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge and develop basic skills in building HVAC and plumbing design.
  • Apply learned techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
  • Prepare low-level complexity general engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Apply fundamentals of Mechanical engineering concepts to assigned design tasks.
  • Assist with field work, design, documentation, coordination, and CAD work.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work under direct supervision on tasks assigned.
  • Work within Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction documents within budgets and deadlines.
  • Perform site visits and field investigations.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services team in our Philadelphia, PA office. The Mechanical Engineer will work alongside engineers and architects as part of a design team applying mechanical engineering principles towards the successful design of low to mid-rise new commercial construction projects, as well as evaluating existing buildings for renovations or reuse.

Strong building systems begin with strong collaboration. Our engineers work alongside architects, structural professionals, and sustainability specialists within one integrated team, allowing decisions to be evaluated early and thoroughly.

By coordinating systems with building layout, site conditions, regulatory requirements and budget considerations from the start, we help reduce surprises later. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with Mechanical Emphasis from an ABET accredited University.
  • 0-3 years' experience.
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrate basic investigative, analytical and research skills.
  • Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, design software, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team (i.e. collaborate, contribute, respect others).
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate basic, general writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
