Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum Warrick Operations in Newburgh, Indiana, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and drive process improvements across the Warrick Operations. You will coordinate project phases from concept to commissioning and work with production and maintenance on equipment issues.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years in an industrial setting, with leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years' experience in an industrial environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship not available.
  • Preferred 3+ years' experience in leading, managing, and executing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop programs that will support process improvements to safely meet Warrick Operations' business plan.
  • Coordinate all phases of assigned area mechanical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure.
  • Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues.
  • Function as a problem solver, applying theory and experience to develop process improvements and identify problems with recommendations for long-term improvements.
  • Lead and participate in process improvements with multi-discipline staff, maintenance, and production.
  • Mentor employees to increase their process knowledge and support their career growth.
  • Work to eliminate waste through reliability enhancements and monitoring processes, ensuring they are in control and meeting expectations.

What you'll do:

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred 3+ years' experience in an industrial environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Preferred 3+ years' experience in leading, managing, and executing projects.
Extra's:
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Mechanical systems experience such as hydraulics, pneumatics, strength of materials, etc.
  • Knowledge of reliability tools common to industry.
  • Project Leadership: You have experience leading successful capital projects
  • Tech Savvy: You are proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Operationally focused: You have stellar organizational and root cause problem solving skills
