Job summary

Schindler Group in Morristown, NJ is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and apply mechanical solutions across project lifecycles. You will develop system designs, perform calculations, select components, and ensure safety and performance while delivering on-time drawings and deliverables.

You will collaborate with sales, field operations, and manufacturing teams, travel up to 10% domestically, and contribute to a culture of safety, integrity, and customer value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 2 years in elevator or related industry.
• 2 years of CAD software experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical system design and analysis; familiarity with architectural/structural drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and finalize system designs, calculations, and component selections per codes and standards.
• Modify designs to meet project requirements while ensuring safety and performance.
• Analyze and resolve complex topics across design, manufacturing, and installation.
• Plan, prioritize, and deliver drawings, submittals, changes, and releases to manufacturing.

Your main responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer, NI is responsible for the design and application of solutions using engineering fundamentals and established practices, procedures, and guidelines.

The position will engage and be a critical link in the project life cycle, providing technical support, task management, delivery, and innovation in the areas of mechanical engineering.

• Workload Management: Effectively manage a large workload of projects with predefined contract requirements. Meet and exceed Service Level Agreement requirements.
• Deliverable Management: Accomplish specified technical objectives on time and to customers’ expectations.
• Engineering Excellence: Deliver high-quality, reliable solutions that deliver meaningful customer value and create impactful experiences.

Essential Function
1. Engineering Design & Technical Application
a. Develop and finalize system designs, calculations, and component selections using engineering fundamentals, applicable codes, and company standards.
b. Apply established technical solutions and modify designs to meet project specific requirements, ensuring safety, compliance, and performance.
c. Analyze and resolve complex technical topics across design, manufacturing, and installation to ensure reliable outcomes.

2. Workload & Deliverable Management
a. Manage multiple concurrent projects to meet contract requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
b. Plan, prioritize, and execute engineering tasks to ensure timely completion of drawings, submittals, change orders, and release to manufacturing.
c. Maintain accountability for the accuracy, quality, and completeness of all technical documentation and deliverables.

3. Project Execution & Customer Experience:
a. Support the project lifecycle by aligning engineering solutions with project objectives and customer expectations.
b. Collaborate cross functionally with sales, field operations, and manufacturing teams to drive successful execution.
c. Communicate technical information clearly and proactively resolve issues to ensure a positive internal and external customer experience.

What you bring

Education

• BACHELORS DEGREE- RequiredBachelor's Degree in Engineering – Mechanical or a closely related field – Required.

Experience

• 2 years experience in the elevator industry or similar industry.
• 2 years experience working with CAD Software.
• Experiences may be concurrent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal Communication Skills (Verbal and Written, Technical Report Writing).
• Communicate effectively with all internal engineering teams, engineering management (Internal escalation), and customers.
• Maintains positive and professional attitude in a highly demanding environment.
• Computer Skills – Microsoft Office, SAP.
• Knowledge of Mechanical System Design and Analysis.
• Knowledge of Architectural/Structural Drawings.

Travel/Physical/Other

• REQUIRED: Upto 10% Domestic Travel

Base Salary $82,900 - $100,100

The above represents the typical salary range for this position. Revisions to the range may be considered based on your experience, education, location, demonstrated skills, and alignment with business priorities. Please note that the compensation listed reflects only base salary and does not include variable incentives or benefits. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance.
