Job summary

Mayman Aerospace in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team designing, building and flight testing our Razor autonomous aircraft. You will work on airframe components, test fixturing, and the integration of hardware.

The role requires a Bachelors in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of hands-on experience, strong fundamentals, clear communication, documentation discipline, and a collaborative, fast‑paced mindset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Join the engineering team to develop the Razor aircraft.
• Design airframe components, test fixturing, and related parts.
• Assist with aircraft assembly and integration, including drawing releases and tolerance analysis.
• Develop tooling solutions for fabrication, assembly, and test.
• Get hands-on with fabrication and assembly of the Razor aircraft.
• Support testing of hardware (airframe components, engines, etc.).
• Join the flight-test team and travel to test ranges to support end-to-end testing.

Mayman Aerospace created the world's only successful turbine powered Jetpack. We are a venture backed company with DoD contracts working to develop our Air Utility Vehicle. It will be the smallest & fastest, heavy-lift micro-turbine powered VTOL aircraft ever designed. We are currently developing our fifth full scale flying prototype called the P100.

Mayman Aerospace is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our existing engineering team designing, building and flight testing our awesome autonomous aircraft.

What You\'ll Do:

• Join our engineering team to develop the Razor aircraft
• Design airframe components, test fixturing, etc.
• Help with the aircraft assembly and integration effort (e.g. drawing releases, tolerance analysis, work instructions, etc.)
• Develop tooling solutions for fabrication, assembly, and test
• Get hands‑on with fabrication and assembly of the Razor aircraft
• Support test of hardware (airframe components, engines, etc.)
• Join the flight‑test team (travel to test range and support the end‑to‑end test effort)

Who You Are:

• Bachelors degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree with 3+ years of experience
• Strong engineering fundamentals and critical thinking
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills for technical documentation, physical documentation and hardware
• Willingness to work collaboratively across a broad range of activities to support team goals – growth‑stage startups require a wide range of skills
• Ability to take ownership of tasks, and drive them to completion
• Adept at prioritizing tasks and executing multiple assignments concurrently in a rapidly changing environment

Skills We Are Looking For

• Experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)
• Experience in stress analysis (hand calculations and/or FEA)
• Experience with hardware test (component, assembly, or system) - including test plans, procedures, and data review
• Experience with design and fabrication of airframes, and/or personal experience physically assembling or manufacturing hardware. (Work on personal or extracurricular projects is a plus.)
• US citizen or resident status as this position will require access to export controlled data (security clearance is not required)

Skill We Would Love

• Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of of PLM, ERP, and other manufacturing planning systems
• Software scripting experience in any language
• Experience with composites
• Experience with metallics (e.g. welding, rolling, milling)
