Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. in Toledo, OH is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide maintenance engineering support, maximize equipment availability, and analyze health to extend overhaul intervals.

You will serve as a technical resource for planning, scheduling, and executing mechanical maintenance, applying API/ASME/ANSI/NACE standards, and leading reliability improvement initiatives. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing industry.
• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management.
• Excellent computer skills with CMMS and reliability data analysis.
• Experience in predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to read and influence cross functional personnel.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting and capital budgeting skills.
• Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs and mobility requirements.
• Work in plant environment with noise, dust, and varying conditions.
• Authorized to work in the United States full-time.

Responsibilities

• Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, vessels, rotating equipment, and conveyors.
• Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.
• Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.
• Applying industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE).
• Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
• Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, NDE/NDT, and motor circuit analysis.
• Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs.
• Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance.
• Managing equipment reliability strategies and equipment registers.
• Developing capital project justifications, budgets, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Coordinate with third-party reliability service providers.
• Establish Best Practices to improve profitability, including operating conditions, hardware change recommendations, monitoring process conditions, and unit performance reporting/comparison (benchmarking).
• Analyze operational and maintenance equipment history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics and KPI's.
• Write work orders and provide input to execution of work where required.
• Direct and coordinate the work performed by operating employees for new equipment installations or testing to ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our Toledo, OH HBI location. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing maintenance engineering support to ensure plant equipment availability is maximized. This position will be responsible for support to the operation through analysis of equipment health and recommending strategies to increase the time between overhauls. This role serves as a technical resource for planning, scheduling, and execution of mechanical maintenance. This position will be responsible for supporting plant reliability using knowledge of mechanical systems to troubleshoot and decrease lost opportunities.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, vessels, rotating equipment, and conveyors.

• Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.

• Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.

• Applying industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE).

• Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).

• Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, NDE/NDT inspection methods, and motor circuit analysis.

• Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs.

• Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance.

• Managing equipment reliability strategies and equipment resisters.

• Developing capital project justifications, budgets, and cost-saving initiatives.

• Coordinate with third-party reliability service providers.

• Establish Key Processing "Best Practices" to improve profitability, including; operating conditions, hardware change recommendations, monitoring process conditions, and unit performance reporting/comparison (benchmarking).

• Analyze operational and maintenance equipment history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics and KPI's.

• Write work orders and provides input to execution of work where required.

• Direct and coordinate the work performed by operating employees as required for new equipment installations or testing to ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing industry.

• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management required.

• Excellent computer skills with high proficiency while working within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and utilizes its functionality to correlate the data for reliability analysis.

• Experience in predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.

• Effectively communicate both orally and through written text.

• Ability to read and constructively influence personnel in cross functional groups.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities.

• Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills.

• Demonstrated skills with capital justification, budget development, expenditure and controls.

• Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs.

• Mobility required. Must be able to handle stairs and long periods of work on your feet.

• Routinely exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather.

• Ability to work at heights.
