Job summary

Hatch is seeking highly motivated Mechanical/Piping Engineers to join our Project Delivery Group in Houston, TX. You will work with senior engineers and designers on challenging projects, applying mechanical design, stress analysis, and hydraulic system design while contributing to digital project delivery initiatives.

The role offers exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement, and commissioning activities, with opportunities to grow toward professional licensure and leadership

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Strong deliverable focus and ability to plan work.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the project.
  • Experience with mechanical and piping engineering; P&ID development and hydraulic analysis.
  • PE license or EIT preferred; site experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Digital Project Delivery of Mechanical and Piping Engineering within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Assist project team in understanding project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Support site field visits to obtain information and data.
  • Support equipment identification, sizing, layout, technical specifications, and vendor information reviews.
  • Support piping system design including hydraulic analysis, P&ID development, material specs, stress analysis, layout.
  • Populate information into the data-centric project environment.
  • Interface with vendors throughout design and procurement.
  • Interface with the client throughout the project duration.
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews.
  • Assist in resolution of engineering issues during the project lifecycle.
  • Promote ethical and professional practices and Hatch safety culture.
  • Adhere to Hatch corporate safety culture.

Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking highly motivated Mechanical/Piping Engineers to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) at our offices in Houston, TX.

The Hatch PDG provides you with an opportunity to be part of an integrated engineering team which provides engineering services for projects within the USA Region and across the globe. Working closely with our senior engineers and designers, the Mechanical/Piping Engineer will be an integral part of the team working on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop his or her knowledge in mechanical design, stress analysis and hydraulic system design, while developing new skills. The candidate will help drive the Hatch Digital Project Delivery program, which includes intelligent 3D modeling, data centric multi-discipline engineering, and integrated delivery models. Hatch also offers exposure to the latest calculation and analysis tools to support engineering completion. As project duties and responsibilities increase, the registration of the candidate as a professional engineer will further enhance the opportunities for their career.

As a Successful Candidate, You Will
  • Perform Digital Project Delivery of Mechanical and Piping Engineering functions within multi-disciplinary teams across established and emerging industries and markets.
  • Assist project team in understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule
  • Support site field visits to obtain information and data to support projects.
  • Support equipment identification and selection activities, including sizing, layout, technical specifications, and vendor information reviews.
  • Support piping system design activities, such as hydraulic analysis, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development, material specification development, stress analysis, and layout.
  • Support population of information and attributes into the data-centric project environment
  • Interface with vendors throughout the design and procurement process
  • Support direct interface with the client throughout the project duration
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews
  • Assist in resolution of engineering issues during Project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning
  • Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of engineering work
  • Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture.
You Bring To The Role
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university
  • Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Strong deliverable focus, ability to plan you work
  • Ability to learn and understanding inter-discipline dependencies related to the Mechanical and Piping Engineering functions
  • Exposure to procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies
  • Sound knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the Project
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional Engineer license or Engineer-In-Training status is preferred
  • Site experience in a technical role is preferred.
