Job summary

magniX in the Pacific Northwest seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver electric powertrain components. You will create and iterate detailed CAD models, including rotatives, structures, and test methods, and support documentation, reports, and test results.

You will apply aerospace design practices, perform trade studies, produce complete design packages with BOMs and assembly instructions, and coordinate with Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Testing to meet performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience using 3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS) and PDM systems.
  • Understanding of GD&T ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y14.100-2013.

Responsibilities

  • Apply aerospace design practices to electric aircraft motors and components.
  • Produce complete design packages with drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
  • Conduct design reviews ensuring compliance with performance requirements.

About the role :The Mechanical Engineeris responsible for the design and delivery of magniX’s electric powertrain products. The Mechanical Engineer will evaluate requirements and use cases to create and iterate detailed CAD models of design options – including rotatives, structures, materials/lubrication selections, assembly processes, and test methods. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will be expected to support design documentation development and release, write technical reports, test requirements, and analyze test results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply aerospace standard design practices to electric aircraft motors and sub-components, including machined components, bearing selection/sizing, material selection, coatings, fasteners, lubricants, DFM.
  • Conduct trade studies on design and manufacturing options, identify methods for risk reduction and technology development.
  • Produce complete design packages – detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, assembly instructions.
  • Conduct reviews of designs, manufacturing plans, and test procedures to ensure compliance with design and performance requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments through hardware delivery and operations (Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, etc.).
  • Lead resolution of technical problems, achieving buy-in from cross-functional teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of technical and certification requirements for Electric Propulsion Units for aviation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Practical experience using 3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS) and PDM systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aviation propulsion systems experience preferred
  • Hardware delivery experience and sound technical knowledge of electric machine design preferred
  • Strong understanding of GD&T: ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y14.100-2013.

Location:Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.

Salary Range:$105,000-$160,000
