Job summary

Koch Finishing Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead design from concept to startup for automated paint finishing projects. You will work with customers, estimators and project managers to ensure on-time, budget-aligned deliveries with strict quality standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with finishing equipment, travel, and strong leadership in design reviews and field support. A PE license is preferred, and collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with estimating team during preliminary engineering, project pursuit and proposal phases.
• Take accountability for all design aspects of projects and supervise engineering and design team members.
• Prepare comprehensive system layouts, floor plans, P&IDs, and mass balances for major projects.
• Provide engineering leadership throughout design reviews, quality inspections, installation, and startup phases.
• Ensure equipment and materials meet contract performance objectives, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Size and specify equipment and design elements, and order cost-efficient equipment as needed.
• Prepare purchase specifications, develop BOMs, and support equipment expediting.
• Assist manufacturing and field activities with technical interpretations and problem-solving.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and industrial safety standards are met in all designs and specifications.
• Organize and conduct reviews and problem-solving sessions within the organization.
