Job summary

Murphy Company is seeking a Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer for its Design/Build Group in Denver. You will design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial projects, support drawing production with Revit, and perform core engineering calculations.

Interact with Murphy Operations, owners, and consultants to deliver integrated solutions. The role demands collaboration on complex facility projects, strong communication, and proficiency with common design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3-5 years in mechanical/plumbing engineering.
• Design-build project delivery experience is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Hydronic, sheet metal and plumbing experience required.
• Familiar with REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and related tools.
• Proficiency with industry calculation and simulation programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and layout of HVAC and plumbing systems for new construction, renovations, and upgrades.
• Support drawing production including mechanical drawings, details, schematics and construction documents using Revit.
• Perform basic engineering calculations: heating/cooling loads, airflow, hydronic flow, duct & piping sizing.
• Review equipment submittals, shop drawings and RFIs with senior engineers.
• Attend project meetings to support the CO DB work program.
• Attend site surveys and job walks.
• Report to Engineering Manager and coordinate with Murphy Operations, owners and consultants.

Mechanical Engineer – Design Build Group

Job Description

Murphy Company is seeking a Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer for our Design/Build Group. This position will support the engineering team with mechanical design for commercial and industrial projects. Role includes interaction and support for the Murphy Operations team, owner/end user, and third party consultants. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, with eagerness to learn and develop creative solutions for our customers.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Reports to the Engineering Manager
• Assist with the design and layout of HVAC and plumbing systems for new construction, renovations, and system upgrades.
• Support internal drawing production, including mechanical drawings, details, schematics, and construction documents using Revit software.
• Perform basic engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, airflow requirements, hydronic flow rates, duct sizing, and piping sizing.
• Seek guidance from senior engineers and incorporate feedback into work product.
• Support construction phase to review equipment submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information (RFIs).
• Attend project meetings (virtual and in person) to support the CO DB work program
• Attend site surveys and job walks

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in the Mechanical/Plumbing Engineering
• Experience in the Design Build method of project delivery a plus
• Desire and interest to work on Advanced Facility mechanical projects (Pharma, Food Manufacturing, Healthcare, Data Centers, Clean Rooms, Industrial, process piping, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• EIT/FE preferred, future P.E. licensure being pursued
• Hydronic, sheetmetal, and plumbing experience required
• Competent in various industry calculation and simulation programs
