Job summary

CM Mission Critical Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to produce detailed construction drawings and perform complex calculations across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will join a fast-paced, technically focused team delivering mission-critical projects with strong analytical and communication requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
• 3–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in MEP consulting.
• E.I.T. certification preferred but not required; PE licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for highly technical environments.
• Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, vent, and specialty piping.
• Support performance-based fire protection and controls design.
• Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Conduct psychrometric analysis and review system sizing criteria.
• Perform engineering studies: cooling/heating loads, ventilation, air balance, CFD modeling, duct & pump calculations, load curtailment, co-simulation.
• Produce highly detailed construction drawings coordinated across all disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members to ensure project success.
• Communicate project goals, challenges, and schedules to teams and partners.
• Participate in daily or weekly training and continuous learning initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Reports to: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for producing highly detailed, fully coordinated construction drawings and performing complex mechanical engineering calculations across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. This role integrates into a highly technical, fast‑paced engineering team and contributes to the successful delivery of mission‑critical projects. The Mechanical Engineer must demonstrate strong analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to technical excellence while coordinating with internal and external project partners.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Applicable Autodesk Revit experience required


• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)


• Experience with design and analysis tools such as Bluebeam, Trace 3D Plus, Pipe‑Flo, and Hands Down Psychrometrics


• Experience with CFD software (FloEFD, TileFlow, 6Sigma, Star CCM, or similar) preferred


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines


• Strong organizational skills with consistent on‑time project delivery


• Proven success working with all levels of management


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to function well in a high‑paced and occasionally stressful environment

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field required


• 3–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment


• Experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in highly technical market sectors such as data centers, healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments preferred


• E.I.T. certification preferred but not required


• PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computer


• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
