Job summary

Credence Management Solutions, LLC seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Fixed Wing Branch in Crestview, FL. The role requires solving complex engineering problems across hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical systems and structural domains for USAF programs.

You will lead hardware design, design verification, and participate in reviews and certification activities, ensuring safety, reliability, and producibility of aircraft systems.

Qualifications

  • Active or current DoD security clearance (Secret or higher).
  • ABET-accredited Master’s or Doctorate in a related field with 10 years of DoD/USG ISR/SOF experience, or ABET-accredited Bachelor’s with 20 years of experience in the field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in design, development and integration of aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in solving complex engineering problems related to military aircraft systems.
  • Perform hardware design, development, integration, implementation, and analysis across life cycle.
  • Plan and conduct feasibility studies for design improvements and tech insertions.
  • Develop standards and guidelines including airworthiness criteria and MACC.
  • Develop structural and corrosion repairs for aircraft.
  • Support engineering tasks including investigations, trade studies, and field/depot support.
  • Coordinate with IPTs to ensure aircraft systems meet requirements.
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Assist with OSS&E, MECSIP, AVIP, ASIP, and other safety/compliance programs.

Credence has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer at the senior level supporting our Fixed Wing Branch at Crestview, FL. The Fixed Wing Branch (AFLCMC/WIUA) provides cradle-to-grave acquisition, modification, and sustainment support for all SOF C-130 variant weapon systems and subsystems supporting five USAF Major Commands (MAJCOMs). The Lead Command for most of the AFLCMC/WIUA activities is Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), which falls under the unified command of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). AFLCMC/WIUA also supports Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), and Air National Guard (ANG). The Rotary Wing Branch (AFLCMC/WIUB) provides cradle-to-grave acquisition and sustainment for all USAF helicopters. The branch coordinates acquisition, modification, and lifecycle sustainment to include avionics, maintenance, repair, spares procurement, engineering support, configuration control, and reliability/maintainability and obsolescence programs for fielded systems. AFLCMC/WIUB supports Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Air Force Reserve Center (AFRC), Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), and the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the duties listed below:

  • Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems related to military aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical systems, flight controls, mass properties, and structural systems.
  • Perform all phases of hardware design, development, integration, implementation, and analysis.
  • Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for design improvements, modifications, and implementation of advanced technologies.
  • Develop standards and guidelines for engineering tasks, including the generation of Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) or modification of criteria in the Modified Airworthiness Certification Criteria (MACC).
  • Develop structural and corrosion repairs.
  • Participate in hardware evaluations and assist the Government in developing standards and guidelines for tasks being performed.
  • Support engineering tasks including investigations and analysis, tradeoff studies, quality evaluations, deficiency reports, and field and depot assistance requests.
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), First Article Tests (FATs), and Configuration Change Boards for Airworthiness (CCB/AW).
  • Develop, test, and evaluate theoretical designs.
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure products can be produced reliably with consistent performance in specified operating environments.
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Plan and design new production processes; produce detailed specifications and outline designs; and recommend modifications following prototype test results.
  • Use research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, including mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.
  • Consider the implications of cost, safety, and time constraints.
  • Work with other professionals within and outside the engineering specialty.
  • Analyze progress of program efforts on assigned projects and technical tasks; identify and scope problems; provide recommendations; evaluate results of implemented solutions; and implement technical policies and procedures affecting resources and programs.
  • Support required processes to acquire and sustain aircraft, including the Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) program, Mechanical Equipment and Subsystem Integrity Program (MECSIP), Avionics Integrity Program (AVIP), Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP), and Corrosion Prevention and Control Program.
  • Advise and assist with the design and implementation of cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
  • Evaluate the weapon system contractor's design and assess whether missionized aircraft will meet aircraft-related System Requirements Document (SRD) requirements.
  • Evaluate and assess whether the weapon system contractor's design and deliverables meet aircraft-related Statement of Work (SOW) requirements.
  • Develop and implement aircraft integrity programs and a corrosion prevention and control program.
  • Manage implementation and completion of aerial refueling certification and clearance processes.
  • Manage size, power, cooling, weight and balance designs.
  • Support test planning and execution and review associated documents.
  • Coordinate with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), including radar, communications, logistics, integration, and test, to ensure aircraft systems and subsystems are adequate to meet requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, and execution of a program office Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) process.
  • Develop, implement, and execute program office operating instructions, as required.
  • Develop, implement, and execute a program sustainment strategy.
  • Assist the Government with management of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must have an active or current Secret security clearance (or higher), verifiable in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
  • Must have an ABET accredited Master's or Doctorate degree in a related field and ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five (5) years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations;
  • OR must have an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in a related field and twenty (12) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five (5) years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
  • Personnel must have a minimum of two years of experience in the design, development, and integration of aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, with two years of experience overseeing the design and development of engineering projects.
  • Must have experience accomplishing airworthiness, loads, stress, and weight and balance analysis in support of systems integration.
  • To fill Engineering positions, Contractor personnel must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with a major in engineering from a college or university with an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program for the degree requirements of the position, such as electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for these positions.
  • To fill computer science positions, Contractor personnel must have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate degree with a major in computer science from a college or university with an ABET-accredited computer science program.
  • For engineering and computer science positions, the degree must have been received in the year of, or any year after, the original date of accreditation.
