Job summary

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, analysis, and support of HVAC equipment and systems across the product lifecycle.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, quality, safety, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance while aligning with customer needs and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer HVAC system solutions, including performance calculations, component selections, and system layout.
  • Creation of 2D/3D designs and technical submittals coordinated with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure technical compliance and manufacturability.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including, but not limited to ASHRAE, AHRI, AMCA, UL, ETL, NFPA
  • Provide technical expertise to sales, customers, and consulting engineers reviewing project specifications and assist with equipment selection.
  • Manage projects to meet schedule, cost, and performance objectives, tracking project milestones, risks and deliverables.
  • Support product releases, creating bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and technical documentation, and performing design verification.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability,
  • Resolve production issues related to product design, and review and disposition engineering change requests and notifications (ECRs & ECNs).
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with test plans, validation protocols, and reports.
  • Support service participating in field troubleshooting and root cause warranty investigations, analyzing field data and identifying corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
