Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and work out of our NJ office. The successful candidate will have experience with the design of process piping and mechanical equipment in the process industries.
This person will execute various projects, oftentimes simultaneously, within the Mechanical Engineering Department, serving our current clients in oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, heavy industrial and manufacturing industries.
Responsibilities
- May serve as project manager and/or as mechanical discipline lead, including responsibility for preparing and managing project schedules, plans, budgets, and deliverables.
- Work with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
- Field engineering and mechanical equipment/piping inspection.
- Developing complete mechanical design packages, including mechanical drawings and documentation.
- Specifying piping design, inspection and test requirements, and specify mechanical equipment based on client and project requirements.
- Performing engineering calculations and evaluation, including ASME B31.3 thickness calculation, pipe deflection, pipe stress/flexibility analysis, pipe support design, and hydraulic analysis.
- Performing engineering feasibility assessments and developing total installed cost estimates.
- Ensuring project deliverables meet the project requirements, the client specifications, and standards, and James Controls' technical and quality standards.
- Stay current with emerging trends in technologies and standards related to mechanical piping and equipment in the process industry.
- Collaborate with other engineers, designers, technicians, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure successful execution of the project.
- Providing technical support and guidance to clients, fabricators and field personnel.
- Reviewing vendor drawings, calculations and submittals as required by the project scope..
- Help grow the business by identifying new opportunities and expanding our services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10-15 years of prior relevant engineering experience is required in the oil & gas, petrochemical, process and/or power generation industries..
- Technical knowledge and experience with specifying and performing engineering and design associated with typical heavy industrial equipment, including but not limited to piping, vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, pipe supports, etc.
- Experience in and application of piping, pressure vessel and storage tank codes and standards included, but not limited to ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, API, and NFPA, etc.
- Strong foundation in engineering principles with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Preferred
- Current P.E. License and the ability to seek licensure in multiple states.
- Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Caesar II, Navisworks, Pipeflo, NozzlePro, Compress FEA.
