Job summary

SmallHD is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to advance product development from concept through manufacture. You will design and fabricate mechanical components of innovation and excellence, contributing across the entire lifecycle of camera-related display products.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical design, CAD/CAM, and leadership, and can drive projects from design to testing and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; master's preferred.
  • 6+ years mechanical engineering experience.
  • 4+ years with 2D/3D design and manufacturing tools.
  • 3+ years of project management; 2+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Strong CAD/CAM knowledge and drafting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full lifecycle product development from concept to manufacture.
  • Design systems and components to meet needs and requirements.
  • Produce outline designs and document methods.
  • Conduct experiments, analyze data and interpret results.
  • Test, evaluate, and improve design for reliability and safety.
  • Estimate budgets and scope; prepare product reports.
  • Learn and develop new theories or methods.

SmallHD designs and manufactures cutting-edge display products for both the independent filmmaker and cinema industry. What will I be doing?

You will work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. You will design and fabricate mechanical components of innovation and excellence.


A typical day might include the following


  • Performing a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)

  • Designing systems and components that meet needs and requirements

  • Producing outline designs

  • Conducting methodical experiments, analyzing data and interpreting results

  • Testing and evaluating theoretical designs

  • Identifying, formulating and producing effective solutions to emerging problems

  • Evaluating final products overall performance, reliability and safety

  • Altering and modifying design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions

  • Estimating budget and scope of project

  • Preparing product reports and documentation

  • Engaging in learning and developing new theories or methods


Qualified candidates must have


  • Bachelorss Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred)

  • 6+ years mechanical engineering experience

  • 4+ years experience with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools

  • 4+ years experience with mathematical computing and analysis tools

  • 3+ years project management experience

  • 2+ years experience in an engineering leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and drafting procedures

  • Excellent prioritization and project development
