Job summary

EEA Consulting Engineers seeks a Mechanical Engineer in Austin, TX to lead mechanical design within the MEP domain, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and guiding projects through conception, design, and construction phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer License in Texas.
  • Significant experience in mechanical engineering within the MEP industry.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for detailed drawings and models.
  • Strong project management skills and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and coordination with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept to completion, meeting client requirements and codes.
  • Manage project teams, assign tasks, and monitor quality, schedules and budgets.
  • Serve as primary contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
  • Perform detailed analysis and design of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Create drawings and schematics using AutoCAD and Revit; ensure code compliance and permit approvals.
  • Coordinate with electrical, architectural, and structural teams for integrated designs.
  • Attend site visits and design reviews to support construction administration.

This role is located in Austin, Texas and has a flexible hybrid work schedule.ResponsibilitiesAssist in leading mechanical design projects from conception through completion, ensuring they meet client requirements, codes, and standardsManage project teams, assigning tasks, and overseeing work to ensure quality and adherence to timelines and budgetsServe as point of contact for clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycleConduct detailed mechanical system analysis and design, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systemsUtilize AutoCAD and Revit to create detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics for various mechanical systemsEnsure compliance with local, state, and national codes, standards, and regulations throughout the design process, obtaining necessary approvals and permits as requiredCollaborate with electrical, architectural, and structural teams to ensure mechanical systems are seamlessly integrated with all other aspects of building designsAttend project site visits and meetings as needed for project development, design reviews, and construction administrationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited universityProfessional Engineer License in TexasSignificant experience in mechanical engineering within the MEP industry, with a proven track record of successful project managementComprehensive understanding of mechanical systems design principles and methodologies, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systemsKnowledge of mechanical practices and standards, including but not limited to ASHRAE, IPC, and NFPA regulationsStrong project management skills, including the ability to develop project plans, establish milestones, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful project deliveryProficiency in AutoCAD and Revit with a demonstrable track record of producing high-quality mechanical drawings and modelsProven ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, other regulatory authorities to achieve project objectives and deliver successful outcomesExcellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesWhat We OfferAnnual merit increases based on work performanceAnnual profit-sharing bonus, contingent on company performanceLow-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
