Qualifications

  • Pursuing a major in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents.
  • Perform basic calculations to compute quantities and verify measurements.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; willingness to perform varied tasks.
  • Good communication and listening skills; ability to ask insightful questions.
  • Proficiency with REVIT and MS Office; CAD software experience (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley ORD, MicroStation) desired.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for commuting to project sites.

Internship Overview

Clark Dietz internships provide a great opportunity to apply academic learning to real world engineering projects through hands on experience. Interns also participate in group activities throughout the summer to learn about the engineering profession, technical areas, and career paths.

As a Mechanical/Electrical (MEP) Engineer Intern, you will work as part of a team in the field on a variety of municipal infrastructure and roadway projects. Duties will include assisting with the design and construction of mechanical and electrical building systems including low and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.

Requirements

  • Students with a declared major in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural engineering with an interest/emphasis on building systems are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents and research specifications and codes as needed.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations to compute quantities, verify measurements, and organize and analyze data.
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks with guidance from other staff.
  • Good communication and listening skills with the ability to ask insightful questions and learn and apply new skills.
  • Proficiency with REVIT and MS Office (Excel & Word) is required and previous experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley ORD, MicroStation) is desired.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for commuting to project sites is required.
