Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to develop structural designs and detailed drawings for industrial facilities in Saint Louis, MO. The role focuses on drafting and modeling with STAAD and Trek under engineer direction, coordinating with mechanical, piping, and electrical teams.

You will produce 3D models and fabrication drawings, review vendor drawings, and assist with material take-offs while ensuring compliance with codes and client specs.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of structural design/drafting experience in industrial, EPC, or construction environments.
  • Hands-on experience with STAAD (modeling and analysis) and Trek (3D modeling).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Job Title: Mechanical Drafter Job Description

The Structural Designer supports industrial and heavy construction projects across sectors such as bulk material handling, energy, and manufacturing. This role is responsible for producing detailed structural designs, drawings, and models in collaboration with engineers and project teams. This is a designer position focused on drafting, modeling, and analysis support using STAAD and Trek software platforms.


Responsibilities


  • Develop structural designs, layouts, and detailed drawings for steel, concrete, and foundation systems supporting industrial facilities.

  • Utilize STAAD for structural analysis modeling and to support design calculations under engineer direction.

  • Create and maintain accurate 3D models and fabrication drawings using Trek.

Essential Skills


  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.

  • 3+ years of structural design/drafting experience in industrial, EPC, or construction environments.

  • Hands‑on experience with STAAD (modeling and analysis support) and Trek (3D modeling and structural detailing).

  • Strong understanding of structural steel framing systems, concrete foundations, and anchor systems.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Proficiency with standard drafting and design tools (AutoCAD familiarity preferred).

Job Type & Location

Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
