Job summary

CPV Manufacturing seeks a Mechanical Drafter to convert legacy drawings to CPT standards and produce new designs for NPD using SolidWorks. You will release engineering docs into EDM/MRP and manage documentation lifecycle with strict version control.

Collaboration with cross‑functional teams will be essential to expedite approvals, while ensuring ISO/QMS compliance. The role requires familiarity with ASME Y14 and strong reading of technical docs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as a draftsperson in a related field.
  • Familiar with ASME Y14 series or other drafting standards.
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Able to read technical documentation like drawings, BOMs, parts lists, catalogs, markups, specifications.
  • Experience with EDM and MRP (Infor or equivalent) processes and configuration management.
  • SolidWorks experience (minimum 5 years) and ACAD required.

Responsibilities

  • Convert legacy drawings to new company standards using SolidWorks.
  • Generate new designs and drawings for New Product Development using SolidWorks.
  • Release engineering documentation into EDM/MRP systems and storage databases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to expedite document approvals (ECR/ECN/DCN).
  • Manage engineering documentation lifecycle with version control and quality compliance.
  • Administer vendor and customer documentation and ensure timely receipt and indexing.
  • Develop and track project deliverables and part numbers in Infor MRP.
  • Support audits and inventory control activities.
  • Generate performance metrics on overdue items and document status.
  • Safeguard intellectual property and maintain records integrity.

Job description

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for multiple documentation generation and management through their entire lifecycle from creation through obsolescence. This will include but not limited to legacy drawings and designs conversion to the new standards and procedures as well as generation of new designs and drawings for New Product Development using company CAD Software SolidWorks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conversion of legacy drawings and designs (generated on paper or ACAD) to the new company standards and procedures using company CAD SolidWorks software.
  • Generate new designs and drawings for New Product Development using company CAD Software SolidWorks.
  • Release engineering documentation pertaining to ECR/ECN/DCN and NPD processes into the organization EDM and MRP (Infor) systems, storage data bases or physical files.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to expedite document approval through the specific workflows (ECR, ECN, DCN) and resolve discrepancies. Ensure proper workflows are followed.
  • Manage engineering documentation (drawings, reports, specifications, redlines, as builds) through the entire lifecycle ensuring version control, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards (ISO/QMS/Regulatory Requirements) so that only approved revisions are used in production.
  • Administer vendor and customer documentation, ensuring timely receipt, indexing, and integration into project databases and other storage locations.
  • Implement in company MRP system (Infor) new part numbers as required.
  • Develop, organize, maintain, process and track engineering documentation and project deliverables trough storage locations, logs and trackers.
  • Support company internal and external audits and Inventory Control activities.
  • Generate and distribute performance metrics reports (e.g., overdue items, document status) for management and project stakeholders.
  • Safeguard intellectual property and maintain the integrity of engineering records.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years' experience as a draftsperson in a related field, experience with fluid power or fluid control systems are a plus.
  • Familiar ASME Y14 series and or other drafting standards.
  • Education: Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent preferred but not required. Other Formal Drafting Training will be considered.
  • Able to read technical documentation like Drawings, BOMs, Parts List, Catalogs, Markups, Specifications.
  • Experience with EDM and MRP (Infor or equivalent) processes, Configuration Management, Document Control, Auditing and Cross Functional Interface.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks (minimum 5 years) and ACAD required.
  • Proficient in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), CAD Files Management, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Editing
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • The employee will be working mostly in an office environment
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move around the plant as required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
